Integrated Project Delivery and proper project over-site allows input from all parties involved as well as full costing from the very beginning of the design process. The result is that this process allows the costing and financial proforma to inform the design when changes can be made with little impact. All cost saving go toward the sustainable design features allowing the project to come in on budget without raising the cost beyond that of standard construction. The commonly accepted view is that green design costs more but the reality is that it can be the same or less than conventional construction, assuming our fundamental design approach and concepts are applied. Additionally, a lower operating cost will attain a better bottom line over time and generally command a higher sale or rental price. As technologies advance costs are reduced and shorter payback periods are attained\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moreover, there are other categories of ongoing potential savings that justify high performance design. Once a building is completed, a healthier environment results in increased productivity, decreases sick days \/ employee turnover, reduced medical costs, etc. Needless to say its not only financially wise but it is becoming more and more a code requirement. Further architectural associations around the world are acknowledging sustainable design as the basis of quality design and responsible practice for architects and therefore standard practices and procedures.
